Newsflash

I. Fourth of July BBQ, TODAY 7/2 at 5pm: All families at both campuses are welcome and festivities will begin at 5pm at the Meridian Campus! We will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and lemonade and staff will bring desserts. We ask parents to bring a side dish or salad. Please join us in this fun CHA community event! Stop by and say “hi!” even you can’t stay for the duration!

II. Closed on Monday, 7/5/10: We will be CLOSED at both campuses for the Independence Day Holiday! Happy Fourth of July!

III. Playground Safety: Children will NOT be allowed to play outside if they do not wear tennis shoes or closed heel/toe shoes. Flip flops, sandals, and crocs are not stable enough for running, climbing, and being active. Children may change into tennis shoes before recess if they would like to wear other shoes for inside. Thank you for your help!

IV. Jean Road Teacher Michele Update: Please ask Michelle Jewett or Susan if you are interested in helping our beloved Jean Road Teacher Michele Boyce. She had surgery this week and is facing a painful recovery. Thank you!

V. CHA/Parent Communication: We are trying to streamline our communication with parents. Our Friday Newsflash is a direct result of parental suggestions! If you would like to provide input, please respond to the survey at school or e-mail Susan at susan@childrens-hour.com

VI. Jean Road Volunteers Needed: Due to parental feedback, we have decided to change our Jean Road Work Party to a couple of late afternoons. PLEASE e-mail Patty regarding your preferred dates and together we can make the children’s playground really something special! We desperately need parents to clean, organize, repair, build and setup our kiddos’ playground. Muscles, tools and bodies appreciated! This is a great time to earn volunteer hours and meet fellow parents! Please let us know if you have a special skill as a carpenter, repairperson, or all around tool guy!

VII. Vacation: Patty will take a much needed break next week; her first vacation in TWO years! Meridian Campus Staff Director Susan Stober will be filling in for her at our Jean Road Campus. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to e-mail Patty or Susan. pat@childrens-hour.com or susan@childrens-hour.com.

VIII. Meridian Campus Water Wednesday: As part of our summer science curriculum at Meridian Campus, every Wednesday will be “Wacky Wednesday.” We will offer a fun, unusual themed event to correlate with our curriculum. “DRESS LIKE A VOLCANO DAY” is the theme for our Natural Disasters curriculum next week. Hmmm.. Let’s be creative! Also, because we need to cool those volcanoes on a 90 degree hot day, we also will enjoy a WATER DAY! Please bring sunscreen, a swimsuit, and towel for your child next Wednesday. Questions? Please ask your child’s teacher. Thanks!

IX. Menu for the Week of July 5th:

7/7 Wednesday Corn Chowder, Saltines, and Peaches
7/8 Thursday Chef Salad, Rolls, and Mandarin Oranges

Warmest Regards,

Susan Stober
