Yesterday and today in the 1st and 2nd grade classroom we have focused on the life, works, words, and character of Martin Luther King Jr. Yesterday we read two books (children's books) about his life. We also cut out words or phrases from magazines that described him and glued them to construction paper. Today as a review, we got with a partner and each group listed twenty words about Martin Luther King Jr. The class came up with great words like leader, peace, freedom, and love. All of us wrote a simple poem about what we think PEACE is like. Each student thought of what peace is like to them, and we came up with some fantastic poems. I have written them here for you to read.
Peace
By: Bella Mann
Peace is like a nice heart.
Peace looks like heaven.
It sounds like birds, and it is beautiful.
Peace is always sweet.
Peace
By: Christiaan Bedford
Peace is like a bit of heaven.
Peace looks like birds singing.
It sounds like a river, and it can be strong.
But peace is always cool.
Peace
By: Brock Fiorello
Peace is like a rose.
Peace looks like love.
It sounds like snow, and it can be pretty.
Peace is always great.
Peace
By: Dane Everley
Peace is like a good day.
Peace looks like love.
It sounds good, and it can be lovely.
Peace is always hopeful.
We hope you have a very Peaceful day!!!
